On Sunday, Sept. 22, at 3:00 P.M. the New York Virtuoso Singers, conducted by Harold Rosenbaum, will perform my setting of Psalm 126 at the Center for Jewish History, 15 West 16th Street. On the program will be choral works by four Pulitzer Award winners. This piece, composed in 1979 in celebration of the Camp David peace accords between Israel and the Egyptian Authority, feels sadly and repeatedly orphaned by subsequent events. The music lives on; can hope for a future fulfillment of the cause at its root ever do so as well?
On Thursday, Sept. 26 at 12:15 P.M. the newly named Allegria Trio (Chloe Dickens, Sara Juneau and Ricky Moreira) will include the premiere performance of my first Trio, as well as the premiere of the first Trio by my colleague Edward Smaldone, and the American premiere of the only Trio by Queens College alumna Rosalind Miranda, in LeFrak Concert Hall, Queens College.
This group was formerly the Balsam Trio, the title given to the outstanding ensemble of graduating students at the College.
